Skills and expertise:
My name is Nick Snowball and I come from New Zealand. I have a passion for teaching and a natural talent for communcation with all ages, from complete beginners to highly advanced performers.
I teach in an open and relaxed way, incorporating theory, sight reading, and improvisation into the learning process. I encourage you compose your own music, practically implementing the theory you’ve been learning and helping you to discover your own unique creative voice.
I tailor my lessons to the specific needs of each student, I believe in facilitating a life-long passion for music, whilst providing a great performance technique and broad understanding of musical genre. I enjoy working with all ages and specialise in teaching adults.
About me:
I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Victoria University of Wellington in 2019 where I studied piano performance under esteemed concert pianist Dr. Jian Liu.
I have given performances at the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music in Germany and received an international premiere in Estonia for the ISCM World Music Days, I was commissioned to create original performances for the Christchurch Arts Festival and Performance Art Week Aotearoa.
I have studied composition privately under Ross Harris and Samuel Andreyev and received a number of grants and awards from Victoria University of Wellington.
